There Is …

x

There is just something about READING – it brings me to another immaginative world for that moment, a world that allows dreams to be reality. But of course, we all gain knowledge from reading too.

There is just something about COFFEE – It perks me up even just at the mention of it. I’m not talking only about the latte but even the KOPI-O!

There is just something about CRYING – it’s these tears that brings meaning to all that bottled up feelings that can’t be put into explanation through words.

There is just something about LISTENING – When your world feels like it’s all down, it’s comforting to know that there is someone out there listening.

There is something about THANKFULNESS – The gratitude I have towards God, friends, conversations, people and even situations, is something that makes me grow and learn as a person.

There is something about TRAVELLING – It opens your mind, eyes and heart towards things that you might have been narrowed minded all these while. You see the world in another light + it makes one become more appreciative to what we already have.

I’m starting to like the ‘There is’ series, it makes me think! I hope to post more similar stuff in future.

It’s a Process

Midnight chat with a friend (THANKS J) about career moves got me thinking! She had words of wisdom ‘moments’ that I think I ought to really learn from and I wished I could copy + paste the whole conversation here, but, I shall not bore you with my queries! I guess this is also a reminder to myself what I am really gaming up myself for…

”    ” are her replies to my questions/thoughts which definitely has got my straighten up and onward moving!

My worries of a career switch of direction at this moment - ”Getting uncomfortable is really part of the process…”
Like a lost sheep or worst still, I’m like a chicken without it’s HEAD!! – “Learning things, half the time you’re learning on your own, experimenting all the time. what works, what doesn’t…”
I’m 101% fearful for the fact that this career change at this age – “Mine’s changing all the time…”
So what my resume/portfolio should look like? – “Minus all the fluff…”
Last words for me – “So if you really don’t mind, saddle up for the adventure ahead…”

With that, I’m off to reflect about what’s been said and told!

I Still Love You

I STILL LOVE YOU
Performed by: Grace Ong, Hazel Tan, John Rajan Nair
Music by: Galvin Sng
Lyrics by: Tan Siang Yu
Music produced, arranged & performed by: Rich Ho

They say you’re cramped
No place to stand
The queue’s so long
And things go wrong
They say you’ve changed
No more the same
You are not okay

I say it’s true
Yet I still love you
I know you’re pressed
Sometimes a mess
But deep inside my heart
You’re still the same

I still love you
Love the way you make me smile
I love you even when you’re out of style
I still love you
Loved you for the longest while
My love for you will never grow out of style

Open our eyes
Take a look around
Open our hearts
There’s joy to be found
In the little things
And the smile that brings
You’re still okay

Our families
And the friends we meet
The ties that bind
Make our roots so deep
And right inside my heart
You’re still my home

I still love you
Love the way you make me smile
I love you even when you’re out of style
I still love you
Loved you for the longest while
My love for you will never grow out of style

Today marks my nation, Singapore’s 47th birthday. I must say it has been quite a journey for this country to have achieved what it has till date – wonderful infrastructure, safe environment, (recently) made another mark in the Olympics and many other reasons to celebrate how Singapore has grown. Don’t get me wrong, I have my fair share of complains (sometimes on a daily basis) but the song above truly explains this heart of mine when it comes to describing Singapore. It is still a place I grew up in, a place where friendships were made and also a place that gave me endless opportunities to grow up in. I guess no place like Singapore that has provided me a proper education and even shaped me to the kind of person I am right now – thoughts wise. Good/bad, it’s all up to individually to think, but I’d say good, for that matters.

So Singapore, truly, even when you’re out of style, I’d still love you!
Happy 47th Birthday and to the many more wonderful years ahead, may you be a country that shines even in the darkest times.

SquareIT

With me being an avid fan of the photo app, Instagram and how nice each photos turns out each time it was cropped into a square. But I know that there are just times when you want to share something non-squared and for those on the Android platform, don’t fret! You have SquareIT, I can’t quite say that it’s the equivalent of Squaready (for the iOS platform) but I’m actually loving the simplicity of the interface, with very simple steps needed and nothing too fanciful. But with all the pros/cons in an app, I hope that SquareIT would have an update soon with more choices of layout on how the photos can be placed within the area.

Tell me if you have downloaded the app on what you like/hate about it?
