French Press

So this year, Mom and myself made a small kind of agreement (I wouldn’t call it a resolution) that we will be on a look out for good coffee, actually BLACK coffee!! So I’ve been telling her that we should start investing in a French Press that Sophie has been telling me it’s awesomeness and how easy it is to actually make a good cup of coffee. So the quest of finding a French Press begins…

Any recommendation or what are the things that I should be looking out for?

The Plain

So I finally made my way to The Plain after hearing about how awesome the place is. Especially when it’s coming from a friend, Sophie; who’s a firm believer that good coffee is essential + she has drank from the best coffee when in Australia. So her literal remarks about The Plain is “it’s as good as those served in Australia”…

I tell you the vegemite toast with eggs benedict is THE thing to order but warning first it’s not for the light taste buds. While I got the salami sandwich (I can’t quite remember the exact name, but it was the Salami something) which tasted equally good! I love their choice of bread which makes the food taste better.

Now for the COFFEE which both of us got the Skinny Latte! I have now know why people do rave about the coffee here – it’s the froth + good amount of coffee that makes the cup awesome! I have never knew how important an amount of froth can make or break it. You have to come and taste it for your own-self. NO regrets!

Ambience wise, it’s nice to have an open kitchen which allows you to have an idea of what goes on in your food. Yes, I’m the kind that feels more at ease when I know what goes into my food rather than ‘trade secret’ behind those walls. As many other reviewers has mentioned that you have to remember your order upon payment which I think it’s absolutely interesting – this place literally treats you like you are part of the family.

You can choose your type of toast – just the way you want it.

Salami Sandwich.

Happy people!

I had to get another cup of coffee to accompany me while I work. Now I really wished that my working place was somewhere nearby – You’ll probably know where to find me if I’m not at my desk. Haha!

Seoul x Night

Korea in general is a country filled with many night scenes even on a weekday which I think it’s awesome. It keeps me wondering, don’t these people need to sleep and work the very next day? It’s a daily scene where you’ll see working adults hang out till late drinking + feasting on BBQ meat all night long and then they will end up heading to a Noraebang (Karaoke joint) to sing their hearts out. Maybe I should compile a TOP 10 things you will see in Korea real soon. This is Part 2 of my Korea Travel Adventure which I’m still slowly but surely updating on, do drop by soon. If you’re interested, here’s Part 1, which is a simple update.

Night view from a high peek at Namsan Tower. It’s amazing to see the whole landscape of Korea from this view.

Bus rides were VERY fun! Though most bus drivers drove like it was the Formula 1 race! *gulps* I had to hold on TIGHT just in case I ended up on the floor. Plus because of the awesome weather (which I CANNOT stop raving about), NO A/C is needed – natural cooling air comes right in with windows open. *thumbs up*

I could sit in a bus and get whizz around all night long. Seoul is a very colourful place which I LIKE! It’s like a huge canvas of colours everytime you sit and stare and something. Ps, I’d update with more bus rides experience.

Caffe Bene (카페베네) is like the fastest expending coffee joint in Korea. Like you’ll spot it in almost every other street away. Maybe because it has like ‘celebrity endorsement’ like a famous drama show ‘Secret Garden’. But let me warn you, it’s not really a ‘pocket/wallet’ friendly cafe for drinks/food but maybe what you’re paying is the ambience.

Coffee wise, I think they are different from what we have in Singapore – their taste is pretty weak unlike our Kopi-GAO. Most coffee in Korea taste weak unless you tell your barista that you want something ‘stronger’ thus the extra shot or two.

From what I heard it’s because most coffee joints serves pastries and they do not want the taste of each to over power one another. How true is this? Any Koreans would like to enlighten me on this?
